How to Choose a White Label Partner: Questions to Ask and a Checklist
When you white label a service, your client judges you on someone else's work. Pick the right partner and you can sell more without hiring. Pick the wrong one and you spend your week apologizing.
We have spent 15+ years running agencies, so we have sat on your side of this call many times. Below are the questions we would ask, grouped by what they protect, plus the answers you should expect and a checklist you can reuse.
1. Confidentiality: will my client ever see you?
The whole model depends on your brand staying in front.
Ask:
- Will you sign an NDA?- Will you ever contact my client directly?- Whose name is on reports, emails and deliverables?- If I want you on a client call, how do you introduce yourselves?
What good looks like: An NDA without hesitation. No direct client contact unless you ask for it. Reports and deliverables that carry only your brand. When we join a client call, we join as part of your team.
2. Process: how does work actually get done?
A partner without a documented process is a freelancer with a logo.
Ask:
- Walk me through the first 30 days.- Who is my day-to-day contact?- What happens when something goes wrong?- How do you handle changes at short notice?
What good looks like: A clear sequence. Ours is a discovery call for scope and wholesale pricing, a kick-off call with a project plan and set deadlines for each phase, onboarding with a dedicated project coordinator and weekly meetings, then execution and monthly white-labeled reporting.
3. Communication: how fast will I hear back?
Your client expects answers today, so you need them today too.
Ask:
- What channel do we use?- How fast do you reply?- Do I get a direct line to the people doing the work?
What good looks like: A real-time channel instead of long email threads. Our partners reach us on Slack, partners with more than five clients get a dedicated Slack Connect channel, and we reply to new inquiries the same business day.
4. Reporting: can I send it as my own?
Reports are what your client actually reads. They need to look like they came from you.
Ask:
- Can I see a sample report?- Is it fully unbranded or branded with my logo?- How often does it arrive, and what does it include?- Is a results call included?
What good looks like: A white-labeled report every month, ready to forward. On paid ads, our monthly report comes with up to one hour of call time on results.
5. Pricing and terms: will my margin hold?
You need to know your cost before you quote.
Ask:
- Is there a published rate card?- Is there a setup fee, and what does it cover?- Is there a minimum contract length or client count?- Do prices change with volume or spend?- Are there any costs that show up after the first invoice?
What good looks like: Clear packages, month-to-month terms and no client minimum. Our web design packages are published, starting at $1,499. SEO starts with a quoted start-up and then a Local, Regional or National plan. Paid ads are priced by setup hours plus a management tier. See the pricing page, our white label SEO pricing guide and our Google Ads pricing and process guide.
6. Proof: have you done this before?
Anyone can say they get results. Ask to see them.
Ask:
- Do you have case studies with real numbers?- What platform certifications do you hold?- How long has your leadership worked in this channel?- How many agencies do you work with today?
What good looks like: Published case studies, partner status you can verify and a clear track record. We are a Premier Google and Microsoft Advertising Partner, our leadership has worked in SEM and SEO since the early 2000s, and 120+ agencies deliver work under their own brand with us. Our case studies show the numbers, such as a roofing contractor whose paid search conversion rate went from 8.8% to 12.2% in one year.
7. Range: can you grow with me?
The partner you pick for one service often becomes the partner for the next.
Ask:
- Which other services can you deliver under my brand?- Can one team cover a full program, such as SEO, ads and the website behind them?
What good looks like: A partner that covers the services your clients ask for next. Ours include SEO, AI SEO, link building, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, web design, web development and an AI receptionist.
Red flags
Walk away, or at least slow down, if you hear any of these:
- No written confidentiality terms.
- A long lock-in before you have seen any work.
- No sample report, or a report with their logo on it.
- Vague answers about who does the work.
- Results claims with no case study behind them.
- Pricing that only appears after you sign.
- Slow replies during the sales process. It rarely gets faster after.
The white label partner checklist
Use this on every call. If a partner can't tick most boxes, keep looking.
- Signs an NDA and never contacts your clients directly
- Every report and deliverable carries your brand only
- Documented process from kick-off to reporting
- A named project coordinator for your account
- Real-time channel with same-day replies
- Sample white-labeled report provided
- Clear pricing, with setup costs explained up front
- Month-to-month terms and no client minimum
- Published case studies with real numbers
- Verifiable platform partner status
- Covers the next services your clients will ask for
Start small, then grow
You don't have to move every client at once. Start with one service and one client, judge the process and the reporting, and expand when you trust the work. That is how most of our partnerships begin.

Frequently asked questions
What should I look for in a white label partner?
Written confidentiality, a documented process, fast communication, reports branded as yours, clear pricing and published proof of results.
What questions should I ask a white label agency?
Ask about confidentiality, the first 30 days, who your contact is, how fast they reply, what the report looks like, all costs and terms, and which case studies back up their claims.
How do I know a white label partner is reliable?
Look for verifiable partner status, case studies with real numbers and a process they can walk you through step by step. Then start with one client before moving more.
Should a white label partner require a long contract?
It shouldn't need to. Our services are month-to-month and you can cancel at short notice.
